Mobile Scam
Scammers couldn't but develop the mobile communication as a new territory for their activity. Growing number of mobile phone users makes mobile scam more and more wide-spread. Conditionally, mobile scam operations can be divided into three groups: cheating of mobile operator, cheating of mobile phone subscribers and mobile espionage.
The activity of the first group representatives is usually directed at using paid mobile services for free. Some of them are just tax dodgers. Others use different technologies to cheat the data bases of mobile operators. These are hackers who use the information for criminal purpose, such as mobile account falsification or even the production of fake SIM-cards.
People who cheat other mobile subscribers usually use SMS-messages. Their main "trump card" is credulity and ignorance of people. The most primitive way of cheating is just sending SMS form unknown number with money or help request. More "exquisite" plan is to send SMS from behalf of any mobile operator or other well-know company with the information about any kind of winning. The necessary condition to get the prize is to transfer the money to the given account. The most complicated way of mobile scam requires good technical equipment. It's "cloning" of mobile account and using it for making calls.
Mobile spies usually get access to the mobile phone memory for reading SMS, tracking the calls and using other files. They can even tap your mobile conversations. They can even use your phone while you are sure that it is turned off. So, mind that using your handset makes you totally "open" for cheaters. The more information it contains the more appealing it is for the criminals.
