Due to big choice of mobile phone models, this small device became the object of fashion. New designs are emerging constantly and new tendencies are being formed. Mobile phone now is a symbol of status and taste. That's why mobile producing companies develop different model lines meant for different target groups. There are such notions as "female model", "business model", "luxury model" and the like. And new collections of mobile phone accessories appear in their turn. Mobile phone cases and laces are specially designed for every model and are decorated with the company logos.
For a long time the main stream of mobile design was the downsizing of the handset. The smaller the mobile phone was, the more fashionable it was considered. It has lead to the appearing of ridiculous models that were no bigger than a cigarette lighter. But in action they proved to be very unpractical: small buttons were too hard to push, the screen was too tiny, and battery charge was not enough for a long time. Another subject of concern is the shape of the handset. Here we face a big variety of designs: bar shape, slider, book-shape, multi-slider and many others. Engineers and designers need to invent something more exotic every time to impress the customers. To make their mobile handsets more individual some owners decorate them even more. It's fashionable today to enchase the Swarovski crystals into the surface of mobile phone. Some prominent designers, such as Chanel, Prada and Armani, collaborate with mobile companies and create new models. Some models look like a piece of jewelry – they are decorated with precious metals and gems. Thus, the mobile phone ceases to be only a technical device; it is now a fashionable attribute of its owner.
