Environmental Impact

Since the mobile phone is the source of radiation, the matter of its impact on the environment is concerned. Mobile phones themselves and cellular antennas radiate daily a big dose of harmful energy. Many scientific experiments are aimed at finding the sources of natural energy for mobile phones, for example solar batteries or the usage of pollution-free materials for mobile phone production.

And here the antennas have much more negative impact on the nature. First of all, they intervene with the course of low-flying aircrafts. For this reason they were equipped with the warning lights or even masked like trees. Such approach proved to be harmful for the birds. Usually they are attracted and confused by the lights and a tree-looking antenna, so many of them are killed.

Big production of mobile phones and rather small period of their use because of buying new models make them the source of toxic plastic waste. Nowadays many companies introduce social programs aimed at buying and recycling of the used mobile phones.

An empty mobile charger left in a socket is still consuming electricity. Thus, we can talk about global electric waste.

However, mobile phone companies declare that they made a contribution to the sphere of environmental protection. Their statistics shows that using the new mobile technologies many businessmen prefer digital information to the paper documents. They send e-mails with the help of mobile internet; they don't print the documents. All this resulted in a great reduction of paper use. Besides, they can use mobile options to work directly from home. This reduces greatly the fuel consumption and consequently the emission of toxic gases.
